Here we have another rare beast,.... a 5" gauge LNER A4, 'Sir Nigel Gresley'. Built from a modelworks kit, the loco has been tweaked and modified by capable model engineers during the build process and the body (which is generally pretty nicely done) is of course scratch built and not a Modelworks kit product. This isn't a new loco, having spent the last few years on a private ground level railway, but she's still in good cosmetic and mechanical condition. This is a full 3 cylinder loco, so she should be quite fast and powerful, just like the real thing!
Fitted with an injector, a mechanical axle pump with footplate fitted bypass valve and of course the hand pump in the tender. The boiler is a professionally built modelworks one, and comes with a fresh 4 year hydraulic test and a fresh annual steam test so that you can hit the ground running with confidence. We haven't steamed her here in the workshop yet (we usually leave that until we have a customer on the engine as we are always a bit too busy to ever get ahead of the worklist here at SW), but as with all our locos, what you see is not necessarily what you get! If we find anything that needs work when we test the model, that always gets done here in the works before it leaves for a new home. What you get is a fully working model so you can just hit the track and play.
