Here we have a bit of an odd ball! Essentially a 5" Simplex, but with the builder's own interpretation of various things, not least of which the boiler, which is externally gas fired. It all seems completely reasonable and viable, and everything is certainly chunkily conceived and manufactured, but as externally gas fired boilers aren't our thing, we are selling this as a project rather than a fully tested and ready to run loco.
The valve gear, chassis and cylinders all look pretty well made and everything turns over freely. It runs decently on air. We can happily test the boiler to twice working pressure for you to make sure that everything is solid and there are no leaks, but because of it's unusual design our boiler inspector isn't able to put a full certificate on it.
It has twin, independent axle pumps fitted with bypass valves, as well as an injector fitted, and of course there is a hand pump on the footplate too, so there are 4 methods of putting water in. There's also a big chime whistle hidden underneath. If you've a private garden railway then this could represent a cheep route into a chunky 5" Gauge 0-6-0!
