Here we have a 5" BR standard class 4 tank. A kingscale model, but one that has had some lovely extra detailing added as well as a few mechanical tweaks to make things work a little better. Mechanically there is an added external water feed for riding truck, we adjusted all the axle Back to backs to bring them in line with the GL5 standards so it goes nicely through points now. The drain cocks rams were replaced to make them close correctly. The rear bogie has been modified to allow it to slide sideways and the springing adjusted. We've adjusted springing to front pony truck and the brakes to work against wheels when applied. Cosmetically the backhead has been painted black, there's a coal bunker liner, the windows now have scale frames front and back plus side using Mike Jack runners. The lubricators have extra detailing, it has scale water feed valve and injectors plus pipes to both sides, a painted smokebox and roof with high temp matt paint and new scale safety valves fitted.
The silver soldered copper boiler can come as always with fresh boiler tests, and it's only been steamed and run on a couple of occasions so it presents as an essentially brand new locomotive. It's still fundamentally a Kingscale class 4 tank, so mechanically it will still have their strengths and weaknesses, but it certainly runs very nicely on our rolling road.
As with most of our models, what you see isn't necessarily what you get!
We often photograph models pretty much as they come in to us, and then when someone phones to say they are interested we pull the model into our workshops and make sure everything is tested, sorted and ready to go. So if you see the odd model photograph with a fitting missing or a return crank in the wrong place, that's just how it came in and certainly not how it will leave.
