3 1/2" Ivatt Class 2

Here we have another rare little model, a 3 1/2" gauge British Rail Ivatt Class 2 tender loco. Built to the published design by Martin Evans, and modeled as one of the last 1953 built Swindon batch. Although un-prototypically painted in the builder's personally preferred red, the build quality and model engineering is very good. Everything is mechanically nice and tight, and the silver soldered copper boiler can come with a fresh hydraulic shell test to twice working pressure as well as a fresh annual steam test so everything is tested and ready to run.

Lubrication is mechanical, easily accessible on the running boards. The loco is fitted with a pair of injectors and a hand pump in the tender. Currently, and equally unusually the loco is set up to be gas fired, plumbed through with a connector on the rear of the tender for the supply. But we can easily make and fit a grate and ash pan if you'd prefer to stay traditional! A really nice little loco and not a model that comes up very often at all.

As with most of our models, what you see isn't necessarily what you get!

We often photograph models pretty much as they come in to us, and then when someone phones to say they are interested we pull the model into our workshops and make sure everything is tested, sorted and ready to go.  So if you see the odd model photograph with a fitting missing or a return crank in the wrong place, that's just how it came in and certainly not how it will leave.
