Here we have a particularly well presented 3 1/2" gauge LBCS 'Tich' in this instance it's in the original small boiler format. This is the Walschearts valve gear version as well, and so runs really nicely. The boiler is copper and silver soldered and comes fully tested with certificates so she's ready to play. The salter safety valves of the small boilered version are always a lovely Victorian touch. Mechanically the valve gear and bushes are good, and although she's been steamed, it doesn't look like she's been run very much at all. There's also a well conceived water and coal carrying tender to match, which makes this little loco a really nicely done and usable little thing.
There is an axle pump fitted with bypass valve on the footplate, as well as the hand pump tucked in the side tank. Lubrication is mechanical and hidden under the front running boards. This is a very well executed and ready to play example of a very popular design, and a great entry point for the miniature steam world.
As with most of our models, what you see isn't necessarily what you get! We often photograph models pretty much as they come in to us, and then when someone phones to say they are interested we pull the model into our workshops and make sure everything is tested, sorted and ready to go. So if you see the odd model photograph with a fitting missing or a return crank in the wrong place, that's just how it came in and certainly not how it will leave.
