Here we have a competently made 3 1/2" gauge Southern Railway Schools Class, in this case number 900 'Eton'. Sadly only a 2 cylinder version, (although obviously that keeps things simple between the frames), but the machining work is neatly done and everything is tight where it matters, so we expect that it'll run nicely. The boiler is copper as you'd expect and will come fully hydraulically tested to twice working pressure as well as having a fresh steam test on the loco.
Cosmetically she's a little 'weathered' here and there, and the paint work would certainly benefit from a bit of a spruce up over the winter, however the overall model, where it really matters is crisp and good. There is an injector fitted as well as an axle pump with footplate mounted bypass valve and of course a hand pump in the tender. Lubrication is mechanical and under the front running board.
As with most of our models, what you see isn't necessarily what you get! We often photograph models pretty much as they come in to us, and then when someone phones to say they are interested we pull the model into our workshops and make sure everything is tested, sorted and ready to go. So if you see the odd model photograph with a fitting missing or a return crank in the wrong place, that's just how it came in and certainly not how it will leave.
