Here we have a nicely made 3″ scale Burrell single crank traction engine built to the well established 'Plastow' design. We’ve had lots of these through the workshops now, and they are always free steaming and easy to use models. The boiler here is silver soldered copper, and as usual we have given it a hydraulic shell (twice working pressure) test, and we will of course steam test it for a new owner prior to delivery. It can therefore have all it’s fresh certificates (4 year hydraulic and annual steam) and is ready to play.
It has an injector, the usual crank shaft water pump. She also has a water lifter fitted which, more often the reserve of the bigger engines, is always a nice feature to find on a 3″. The paint is neatly done, and in good condition with nicely lined out wheels. The level of detailing is good too, with water level try cocks on the bunker and a lovely set of spuds hanging off a spud rail, this is a well done model. She has the odd chip and scratch on her consistent with a used model, but no excessive wear and tear on the bits that matter. A nice, usable engine, that looks like it should!
