3" Burrell Showmans

Here we have a brand new and unsteamed 3" (ish) scale double crank compound Burrell Showmans engine.  Built by the late John Drury, an extremely well respected and prolific model engineer to what we believe to be his own design, and having spent the majority of it's life on display in a museum it came directly to us from the family after John passed away.

It's actually quite a small model for a 3" Showmans, (the wheels are exactly the same diameter as a 3" Plastow Burrell), but certainly a good bit larger than any of the published 2" designs.  it's probably more accurately described as 2 1/2" scale, but we've posed Mark behind it for a size comparison here at the works to give you the idea of it's size.  It's 55" long, 20" wide and around 29" to the top of the chimney cap from the ground.

We have a huge amount to get uploaded to the website at the moment so more words to follow shortly, but for now have a good look at the photos to give you the general idea.  As with all our running models, it'll go through the workshop before delivery so it'll be thoroughly tested and the steel boiler will have a fresh hydraulic and steam test so it's all working and ready to play.

As with most of our models, what you see isn't necessarily what you get!  We often photograph models pretty much as they come in to us, and then when someone phones to say they are interested we pull the model into our workshops and make sure everything is tested, sorted and ready to go.  So if you see the odd model photograph with a fitting missing or a return crank in the wrong place, that's just how it came in and certainly not how it will leave.
