Here we have one of the best examples of a 5" gauge 'Butch' to the GLR Kennions design. A brand new and un-steamed model, beautifully finished as the Glasgow & South Western Railway's 0-6-0T as preserved in the Glasgow Transport Museum, and pretty convincingly so as well. The machining work is all extremely crisp as is the overall finish and paintwork. Obviously the work of a very skilled and careful model engineer.
The boiler is silver soldered copper as usual and can come with a fresh twice working pressure hydraulic test as well as a fresh steam test if indeed you'd like to run the loco rather than simply display it! Fitted with an injector, axle pump and footplate mounted bypass valve as well as a hand pump in the bunker. Lubrication is mechanical, with a large reservoir tucked away neatly under the front of the boiler. There are also well thought out oil pots and feed pipes to all the internal axle boxes to make sure lubrication is effective. All in all a superbly conceived and made loco that looks like it ought to run every bit as well as it looks. A little cracker.
As with most of our models, what you see isn't necessarily what you get!
We often photograph models pretty much as they come in to us, and then when someone phones to say they are interested we pull the model into our workshops and make sure everything is tested, sorted and ready to go. So if you see the odd model photograph with a fitting missing or a return crank in the wrong place, that's just how it came in and certainly not how it will leave.
