Here we have a 5" gauge GWR 51xx large Prairie tank, to the extremely well respected design by Trevor Shortland. The model is a really good start with most of the chassis being made, most of the valve gear seems to be there, except the rocker arms and shafts for the valves, and it certainly doesn't look to be too far away from being able to get the bottom end running on air. All the major castings seem to be there to finish the model, with the main work left to be done seeming to be plumbing and platework.
The boiler is silver soldered copper, and fully hydraulically shell tested to twice working pressure with certificates. It's not the most beautiful boiler you'll ever see but it looks very solidly made with plenty of silver solder on it. All in all a great start to a desirable, accurate and valuable model.
