Here we have another nicely made 5" GWR Pannier tank, in this case 8754 in the slightly less common, but extremely handsome BR black livery. Well built to LBSC's ubiquitous 'Pansy' design, but with the added attention to detail that it's always lovely to see. The bunker is beautifully and correctly flanged round on the rear corners, the rear doors on the cab back open up on their latch, the rivet detail is all there and nicely done,..... indeed this is a good looking Pansy, and a convincing 87xx model.
Mechanically she's in good condition too. There isn't a great deal of slop in the motion and everything runs well as it should. The boiler is of course a silver soldered copper one, and can be given a fresh 4 year hydraulic test and a fresh annual steam test before the loco leaves here so it's fully sorted and ready to play.
Water is supplied through an injector, as well as an axle pump between the frames with footplate mounted bypass valve and of course a hand pump as well,.... in this case tucked away neatly under the rear bunker floor, and with a wooden handle attached and hidden under a removable panel. Lubrication is mechanical and as per usual hidden under the front running boards. All in all, the paintwork is quite nice and tidy with the odd paint scuff and chip having been sympathetically touched in over the years. A well looked after and nicely presented Pansy, all sorted and ready to play.
