5 Inch Gauge GWR Collett Goods Loco, quite unusual and rare in this scale. For her size and weight she has proved a very tractable and strong locomotive.
Steams very freely and runs very nicely. Used for approx 7-8 days last year after a re-paint over the winter of 2011/12 in Phoenix Precision Gloss BR green (remains of tin included for any future touching up etc.) and a satin black for the running plates, cab roof, smokebox etc. At the same time we made some improvements to the backhead detailing to include more prototypical gauge frame, wooden handled steam valves and correct placement of the valves/pipework to look more like the real thing. Coupling rod bearings were also replaced at the same time.
The model has a very minor blister/discolouration near safety valve bonnet as per picture, L/H cab side has a slight bend towards handrail, doesn't really show/detract from the model but have included a close up picture so you can see.
Injector to R/H side, hand pump in tender and a crosshead pump fitted, although this can be a little temperamental/require drain plug removing/bleeding before running if you wish to use it. We've tended to use the injector as it is reliable. Spare steam valve on manifold piped to under cab floor ready for addition of a second injector to L/H side if you so wish. Superheaters are in stainless steel.
This is the model climbing approx 1-100 gradient with 16 scale wagons in tow.
Working gravity feed sanders, need very fine and very dry sand to prevent clogging..! There is a mechanical lubricator behind front bufferbeam with balance pipe to a second tank for extra capacity. The tender has working handbrake, compensated brake gear and opening tool lockers, useful for storing coupling chains, spare gauge glass etc. etc. Also has mounts for a footrest for ground level running.
This is a 'footplate' film working hard up a 1 in 45 gradient.
Hydraulic certificate valid to 16/3/2016 Steam certificate valid to 3/3/2014
