Here we have a brand new and ready to play 5" gauge LMS Jubilee 5699 'Galatea'. Built from a Modelworks/Winson Kit, but 'sorted out' by a model engineer, this is a full three cylinder model, so no half,.... sorry 2/3rds measures here with a simplified 2 cylinder job. We've steamed her in the workshop, and all appears generally well. The loco runs smoothly, and everything essentially works. It's a brand new model, and only now been steamed twice to our knowledge, and so as you w0uld expect, each time at this early stage there has been some little thing that needs a little tweak. We nipped up the right hand cylinder gland as it was blowing past, and we found that the injector clack wasn't seating particularly well, (although it didn't stop the injector from doing it's job). When running in steam, it does still feel a little under powered, so we suspect things could also be much improved by a little more attention to the timing and perhaps a new set of piston rings to help it use the steam better. The water pump and bypass works and keeps the boiler nicely topped up. The tender hand pump also does what it should do. There is a mechanical lubricator on the running board that lubricates, and the boiler is a new professional job that comes with a full 4 year hydraulic cert. She also passed her steam test yesterday so is ready to hit the track.
In short, we have here a straight modelworks Jubilee that has been assembled by a model engineer to make it work! It is cosmetically still a MW product, so it could be hugely improved as you run it with a decent dome, top feed cover and the chimney base is almost the worst thing we've ever seen in our lives since Kanye West tried to sing Bohemian Rhapsody!
Video of her in steam to be uploaded shortly, but if you'd like any more information please don't hesitate to give us a bell on 07816 963463
Sorry It's Sold!
