Here we have a rather nicely made LNER L1 tank. The machining work and valve gear is all very crisply made by an experienced and capable model engineer and she runs very nicely as you’d expect. Fitted with a twin ram axle pump and footplate mounted bypass as well as an injector. The draincocks are steam operated and lubrication is mechanical with two large reservoirs on the running boards. The paintwork is a little course, having originally been applied by brush, but it’s polished smooth in most areas so it doesn’t detract too much from the overall finish and appeal.
The boiler is silver soldered copper and comes with full fresh tests and certificates so it’s ready to play.
As with most of our models, what you see isn't necessarily what you get! We often photograph models pretty much as they come in to us, and then when someone phones to say they are interested we pull the model into our workshops and make sure everything is tested, sorted and ready to go. So if you see the odd model photograph with a fitting missing or a return crank in the wrong place, that's just how it came in and certainly not how it will leave.
