5'' Metre Maid

Here we have a really nicely made 5" 'Metre Maid'. Slightly unbelievably this is the first Metre Maid we've actually had come through us, which shows just how rare they are compared to their far more common sister 'Sweet Pea'. This is a brand new loco having only been steamed on a couple of occasions to ensure all is properly commissioned. The boiler is a professionally made silver soldered copper one from Blackgates Engineering with all the usual certification, and of course comes with a fresh hydraulic test and a fresh annual steam test.

Lots or really crisp model engineering has gone into this one, including several really nice touches. The wheels are a unique design, having been modeled in CAD and then CNC milled from solid steel. The steam pump on the front end pumps water into the boiler beautifully, although there is also an injector fitted and an axle pump with footplate mounted bypass valve. Lubrication is mechanical with a reservoir and pump fitted to each side. The builder has put a lot of thought into the layout and function of the loco and there is a full set of bespoke tools included for handling the removal of the ash pan and grate as well as blowing down and draining the saddle tank. The grate it's self is a nicely designed rosebud set up that again looks well thought out.

All in all a superb example of a solid, usable and powerful loco.

As with most of our models, what you see isn't necessarily what you get!

We often photograph models pretty much as they come in to us, and then when someone phones to say they are interested we pull the model into our workshops and make sure everything is tested, sorted and ready to go.  So if you see the odd model photograph with a fitting missing or a return crank in the wrong place, that's just how it came in and certainly not how it will leave.

For any more information please don't hesitate to give us a bell on 07816 963463
