Here we have a 5" gauge Midland Compound, which the more model engineeringly savvy out there will immediately recognise as the outside cylinder version of Martin Evans' venerable design 'Maid of Kent'. A really good design for running, as are most of Martin Evans locos. Not built for prototypical accuracy,..... the valve gear for a start being Joy rather than Stephenson's, and the whole thing being much more robustly conceived than a true scale model. But certainly a well proven club track performer that generally punch above their weight, and with those large driving wheels, have a startling turn of speed should you wish to get told off by the health and safety officer at your club!
As with most of our models, what you see isn't necessarily what you get!
We often photograph models pretty much as they come in to us, and then when someone phones to say they are interested we pull the model into our workshops and make sure everything is tested, sorted and ready to go. So if you see the odd model photograph with a fitting missing or a return crank in the wrong place, that's just how it came in and certainly not how it will leave.
