Here we have a finely engineered 5" gauge Rail Motor to Don Young's design. This is a cracking little thing, very well set up and machined, and it runs like a charm. One of those well set up models that sounds like an internal combustion engine as it popples round.
There is an injector, an axle pump and a hand pump in the tender. Lubrication is from twin mechanicals between the frames. There is one large reservoir tank split into two bath so that each cylinders consumption can be monitored. The builder has put a lot of thought into the running of the model, so there is a well designed extension handle on both the regulator and the steam valve for the injector. Huge,.... and we mean, huge lumps of lead on and under the footplate, the top one of which sports a neat little stand to take the fire hole door catch so that it can be held ajar. All in all a superbly conceived model this. Well thought through, well engineered, and built with the finesse that is so often a little lacking in a model. One that we would all gladly give a home in our own collections.
