Here we have another example of the ever popular 5" Simplex by Martin Evans. Chunky cylinders, outside walschearts valve gear, good size wheels and a well designed free steaming boiler they make a great starter loco if you're looking to get into the hobby.
Although cosmetically the paint on this one is looking a little on the tired side, mechanically it's still it pretty good condition without undue wear and tear on the valve gear bushes and motion. Fitted with an injector as well as an axle pump with footplate mounted bypass valve, a hand pump in the water tank and as you can see a little single cylinder donkey pump on the running boards too, operated by a steam valve on the backhead. So 4 different methods of putting water in to keep you safe! The boiler is silver soldered copper as usual and comes with full hydraulic and steam tests so she's ready to hit the track straight away.
As with most of our models, what you see isn't necessarily what you get! We often photograph models pretty much as they come in to us, and then when someone phones to say they are interested we pull the model into our workshops and make sure everything is tested, sorted and ready to go. So if you see the odd model photograph with a fitting missing or a return crank in the wrong place, that's just how it came in and certainly not how it will leave.
