Here we have another example of the well proven 5" gauge 'Simplex' design by Martin Evans. A well built, straight forward model that is looking a little cosmetically challenged! The rear coal bunker has at some point been removed in order to improve access for the shovel to the fire box and the hand pump has been placed there on the floor at the back of the cab. It just looks a bit scruffy where the plates have been removed without bothering to tidy that area up.
The loco is fitted with an axle pump with footplate mounted bypass valve as well as the hand pump.
Mechanically the valve gear is still in good shape with no significant wear or slop. The boiler is Silver soldered copper and comes fully tested to twice working pressure and ready to run. A really great first engine for someone wishing to get into the hobby, as well as an easy to use reliable performer.
As with most of our models, what you see isn't necessarily what you get!
We often photograph models pretty much as they come in to us, and then when someone phones to say they are interested we pull the model into our workshops and make sure everything is tested, sorted and ready to go. So if you see the odd model photograph with a fitting missing or a return crank in the wrong place, that's just how it came in and certainly not how it will leave.
