Here we have another example of the ever popular 5" Simplex by Martin Evans. Chunky cylinders, outside walschearts valve gear, good size wheels and a well designed free steaming boiler. A great starter loco if you're looking to get into the hobby.
This one is fitted with the usual three forms of water supply, and injector, an axle pump with footplate mounted bypass valve and of course the hand pump in the tank. The boiler is silver soldered copper and comes with it's past history as well as fresh boiler tests both hydraulic and steam so all's well and ready to run. The paintwork is a little plain and the black shows some crazing on the running boards as you can see in the photos, but it doesn't detract too much from the overall impression, and mechanically everything is still in good condition without any undue wear and tear in the motion.
As with most of our models, what you see isn't necessarily what you get!
We often photograph models pretty much as they come in to us, and then when someone phones to say they are interested we pull the model into our workshops and make sure everything is tested, sorted and ready to go. So if you see the odd model photograph with a fitting missing or a return crank in the wrong place, that's just how it came in and certainly not how it will leave.
