7 1/4" Waldenberg

Here we have another model that we don't see very many of, a 7 1/ 4 inch gauge 'Waldenburg' to the design by Ray Hammond. The full size prototype was built in 1912 by Schweizerische of Switzerland and Ray designed the loco in both 1/3rd scale and 1/4 scale, this is the larger 1/3rd full size model. This model it's self was professionally built by R.S Hammond & Son Ltd (so actually built by the designer!) as one of a batch of four in 1996.

The boiler is a professionally made silver soldered copper one from Bishop-Ellis and as always can come fully tested here in the workshop both hydraulically and on steam so she's ready to go.

Fitted with a pair of injectors, lubrication is mechanical. The engine appears to have had very little use from new, and we believe that it's only been steamed once in the last eight years! As a result she's in excellent mechanical and cosmetic condition.

As with most of our models, what you see isn't necessarily what you get!

We often photograph models pretty much as they come in to us, and then when someone phones to say they are interested we pull the model into our workshops and make sure everything is tested, sorted and ready to go.  So if you see the odd model photograph with a fitting missing or a return crank in the wrong place, that's just how it came in and certainly not how it will leave.
