We are currently working on bringing to the market our first new-build project, a ready-to-run 5 inch gauge (1 1/16 scale) Austerity. With the design phase almost complete, we are presently working through a planning process and preparing drawings, dies, patterns and lasercuts.
At this stage we don't have many specific details ready, such as the all important price,.... but we can tell you that the ethos behind this model is not to provide another relatively simple, mass produced 'off the shelf' model. With this project we have set out from day one to create a very highly detailed and prototypically accurate, model engineer finished locomotive. The intention is that it will be equally at home as a work of art for your hall way, as it will be shunting scale wagons on the track.
A small batch of 10 models is initially planned, each hand built in our workshops, and each bespoke finished to the customer's precise requirements. We feel this individual approach will enable us to focus our attention on getting the detail right, and on creating an accurate reproduction of any of the many hundreds of guises that the Austerities took.
So if you have a soft spot for a specific Austerity that used to shunt your local colliery, lament the passing of the Cromford & High Peak or just appreciate a well engineered highly detailed model.... this might be just the thing for you!
